Crisis call line for Emory and the community.  Position included training and supervising 40 peer counselors for the line, as well as processing and feedback for counselors on the line

APA fully approved internship in clinical psychology.  Short and long term therapy with graduate and undergraduate students.  Included therapy groups (personal growth, eating disorders, and a group of clinical psychology graduate students); career counseling; marital therapy.  Regular training experience in individual therapy, group therapy, marital therapy, crisis intervention, and psycho-educational outreach

1973-1974   Counselor/Graduate Assistant, Child Study Center, Peabody College

Provided family therapy, play therapy, and counseling to parents and children as part of this community agency.  Handled initial intake interviews on all cases referred to the center.  Did extensive intellectual and psychological assessment of children referred for emotional and behavioral problems.  Provided complete assessment to multihandicapped children whose mothers had rubella during pregnancy.  Served on multidisciplinary team, including three licensed psychologists, one school psychologist, one liaison teacher, and other mental health team members.  Supervised by Dr. Paul Dokecki, Director of the Center.

1972-1973   Consultant (Practicum) Peabody Multidisciplinary Team, Sylvan Park School Provided consultation at Nashville elementary school for parents, teachers, and principal as part of multidisciplinary team.  Areas of focus included student emotional and behavioral problems as well as administrative problems in assessment of children in a school system.  Supervised by school psychologist

      2001 – present  Contracted by Department of Rehabilitative Medicine, Emory University .  Teaching interpersonal communication skills to PhD students in Physical Therapy

      2002 – 2004 Taught Assertiveness Training at the Center for Disease Control, Atlanta, Georgia.  Presented four one day workshops

      1985- Present   Evenings at Emory (Community Education)

Have taught assertiveness training/communication skills every quarter for 22 years.  Have also taught dating classes for adult singles as well as classes on overcoming shyness.  Taught Empowering Women in the Workplace beginning in summer, 2001.

      1999 - 2003  SpeakUpForYourself virtual workshops on many topics.  These are workshops and classes presented over a telephone bridge line for people all over the country and the world.  These occurred on a monthly basis

      1984 - 1985  Georgia State University’s Season for Self     Taught assertiveness training

       1986-1988 Orientation Classes for New Employees at Georgia Regional Hospital at Atlanta, a hospital for the mentally ill.  Classes included communication skills, suicide intervention, communicating with the aggressive patient, and staff-patient relationships.

       1985 - 1986  Supervision of Doctoral and Masters Level Graduate Students in Emory psychology graduate program.  Included listening to tapes, discussion of cases, direct supervision, case notes as well as giving lectures to supervisory groups on therapy topics.

       1984  Doctoral Level Supervisor.  Supervised therapy for students in Georgia State University psychology department.
